This project comprises a new-build chalet located in the French Alpes. The chalet will essentially be built into the mountain on a steep incline, with the front façade facing the valley, presenting a beautiful view for the client.
In the village, where the chalet is located, there is no gas available. In addition, with restrictive planning conditions on the use of electricity, heating the chalet was a challenge.
GBE presented a case for using air-source heat pumps over a wood-pellet biomass system for the generation of heating and hot water. The architect on the project required detailed sketches to understand the size of equipment required on the site, to ensure sufficient space was given to MEP plant, without overtaking precious internal living space. Holocene are continually working closely with the project coordinator to develop the finalised tender package.
